very dangerous thing for Australia -- we don't have a national guard to protect us from ourselves.
If the people of Australia were ever pushed too far - they could not be controlled.
Australia could easily turn to anarchy - they have guts, they have the ability to adapt quickly, they are strong on mateship and they hate authority. They also aren't too fussed on politicians and they are opinionated.
Drive them into poverty and you risk building a huge bonfire that if sparked, could run through the whole country like a raging bushfire.
This is not America -- we have local coppers only. Our military guys are small and they would not have their hearts in it anyway.
