There's a lot of emotion and not a lot of common sense in this debate being furthered by people who won't be happy until we stop using coal, oil and gas and will promote as much division and hysteria as possible in this debate to ensure that outcome.

They trade on the public's ignorance at the work that's been done in this area by Australia to date to amplify and perpetuate their endgame.

Let's take some snapshots from the Clean Energy Council's Clean Energy Australia Report 2019.

    • 21% of Australia's total electricity generation is now from renewable sources.
    • In 2018 there was a 100% increase in investment in large-scale energy projects.
    • 1 in 5 Australian households now have rooftop solar panels.
    • 87 large-scale projects under construction/financially committed at the end of 2018.

In addition, we're also on track to exceed every international obligation we've signed up to on the topic.

The fact that a small, vocal minority is allowing the message to be perpetuated that nothing has been done for the environment is outrageous.
