"Michaelia Cash pressures WA on COVID border closures, warns Clive Palmer legal action may succeed"

The Morrison government is ramping up the pressure on Western Australia to open up its borders, suggesting the High Court may not again support Premier Mark McGowan's hard border stance.

Federal Attorney-General and West Australian Senator Michaelia Cash said the Commonwealth had no plan to challenge state borders at this point in time.

But she suggested if businessman Clive Palmer were to do so again, there may be a different result than his failed attempt last year, when the High Court ruled it was reasonable for WA to have closed its borders in order to stop the spread of COVID-19."
