He said in a media release that his wife had to give him a wake up call.

“Jenny and I spoke last night, and she said to me, ‘You have to think about this as a father first. What would you want to happen if it were our girls?’ Jenny has a way of clarifying things, always has,” Morrison said.

Seriously this guy needs to reflect on his family before he can empathize with a rape victim. He needed clarification.

Are police charges need for a clarification that the woman who was raped was telling the truth?
Do you need to charge someone before a matter can be dealt with correctly?
Did the up coming election effect the way this was dealt with?
Is winning an election a priority over everything?

This has happened before but in a different context.

They backed her regarding racist comments until her position was untenable.

Claiming that Mulims shouldn't be allowed into the country and calling for Donald Trump to round them up and cut of their clitoris.

My point. Liberal public relations tend have a damage control view of the world. They back people, cover up things until it becomes untenable. This results in bad decisions, backing bad people and head in the sand approach. They have a means justify the ends mentality which also applies to justice and public administration in general. This is also why there is police corruption and violence.
