Prime Minister Scott Morrison ordered his Education Minister to withdraw his attack on the Andrews Government in a desperate bid to control any relationship fallout.
Education Minister Dan Tehan accused Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews of a “failure of leadership” yesterday for not pushing for schools to return.
Just hours after releasing the statement it was withdrawn.
Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell revealed Mr Morrison’s office contacted Mr Tehan’s office asking them to walk back the comments.
Mr Morrison’s office than called the Victorian Government to control the damage.
“This could have put Victoria’s participation in the national cabinet in doubt without the statement withdrawing the remarks,” Mr Clennell said.
