Recent publicity around the 95% effectiveness of both Pzifer and Moderna, and the 62% of Oxford/Astrazeneca, see link below. Similar press coverage elsewhere in Australia in the last week.

Moderna trials were across a wider community age cohort than Pzifer.

Moderna’s vaccine contains 100 micrograms of mRNA per dose, whereas the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine contains 30 micrograms of mRNA per dose.

Moderna’s vaccine is distributed at -20 degrees C, whereas the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine requires distribution at -70 degrees C

UK announced two weeks ago the purchase of an extra 10 million Moderna vaccines on top of the 7 million already on order. Unusual given that they can produce as much of the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine locally as they want.

After the recent publicity here in Australia it is possible that a sizeable proportion of the population will want Moderna or Pzifer over the Oxford/Astrazeneca vaccine. They could even demand Moderna/Pzifer from their private health funds. There would then be much deserved pressure on the government for an mRNA production facility to finally be set up in Australia, it will cost less than $0.5 billion

Australia has 10 million doses of Pzifer on order, that's 5 million people getting the required two shot dose. Another order we have is with Novovax for 50 million doses, this is not an mRNA vaccine and is still in clinical trials and this company has produced vaccines for over 30 years but not one has received regulatory approval. The remainder orders are for 50 million Oxford/Astrazeneca. The university of Queensland vaccine order was halted.

Time to demand the parliamentary websites display the vaccination type and dates of senators and house members. This would tell it all. This information is in the public interest. Morrison has already said that the majority of Australians are getting Oxford/Astrazeneca, so lets see the parliamentarians line up for it.

Disclosure - No share held in vaccine producers.
