Canavan's take on COP26 is that the global meeting has given the "green light to coal and gas" for increased production, coupled with already announced approval for Santos CSG at Narrabri and Imperial Oil & Gas in NT. CSG includes fracking which splits the rock under pressure and causes fractures which often extend to the surface and results in fugitive emissions leaving a toxic legacy pollution of the ground soil and water table loss.
this is counter to the COP26 commitments, regardless of the Morrison spin.
