    "EV are just transition technology"

Perhaps you are correct; I quite like the idea of an electric car if I can charge it from my own solar and power my house from the battery when I'm not using it. It's probably going to be a long time before you can do that with hydrogen, and it would require extra stages/more expense/lower efficiency. I have other misgivings too:

    1. I can't help wondering what is going to replace all the revenue raised from fuel excise right now. Let's face it, if it was all applied to roads it would be a fair tax, and I can't see what would replace it unless we quadruple the price of tyres.
    2. If I go off-grid in suburbia, sooner or later the power utility is going to want to charge me just for running the power past my house, just like the water people do.
    3. Lithium isn't getting any cheaper, so why do people keep thinking EVs will? If you can't always charge your car at home you are at the mercy of those who own the charging stations; some that I've seen don't even display the price. Driving an electric car seems unlikely to be ever cheap.
    4. Why do V2G advocates show EVs being connected outside?? If it's too dangerous to connect them inside you don't need a garage, and if you pay $70k+ for a car, you wouldn't want to leave it in the open.
