In reality if there were any morals associated with these so-called non-profit charities they should set up a shop front in the affected areas and any person seeking assistance who lives in the area should be given a direct CASH handout to help them get on their feet or even to maintain food on the table.
It's a disgusting criminal act to withhold monies donated by a very generous aussie populace to help people in need NOW - not some time in the future. And imagine the interest on those funds that they don't have to declare - where does that go?
So much for the aussie mantra of a fair go, nothing fair with these charities who are deliberately withholding money and have the nerve to brag about how much they collected. Jail time!!!!!
The best way we can help these communities is holiday there (rather than overseas) and spend our money in that area or better still don't donate and hand over a hundred bucks directly to those who have been burnt out.
