There are still organisations around that give 100% of any collected money to the charity...such as Rotary or Lions. These organisations are made up of volunteers, who don't get paid to do what they do, they do it because they want to give something back to the Community.

It defies belief that any organisation that hangs it's hat on being a "not for profit" fundraising organisation could go broke owing thousands...but it has happened way too often.

There are around 56,000 registered charities in Australia today...all vying for your money. Many of these "charities" use up to 90% of donated funds to pay for their very existence. Some "CEO's" of these charity organisations, who don't do much, are even on very healthy 6 figure incomes

These kids rattling tins outside of stores and on street corners often get paid a commission on what they collect...hence they can be in your face a bit...but when you pass by a Lions or Rotary fund raiser they are standing there unpaid because they want to give back....they do not get paid a zac.

Personally I give any money I want to donate to Rotary for that reason...I know it ALL goes to the named recipients...I donated to the fire victims through Rotary as the money went straight to the victims, not sitting in some bank account earning interest or going to some other unknown cause!
