It takes little to show appreciation for your mum. Mines long dead, but I think of her more than one special day per year. I instilled into my son the process up until he was 10, then sat him down and said its up to him now. A little prompting early but he's got the gist of it now. We're currently travelling Asia and I'm confident a text or email will turn for her. Same as fathers day, he asks want I want, I say I want him to keep his money in his pocket, his mum organises him to come for dinner and I cook a BBQ.
