Do you really think that Dreamworld is the Aussie experience. Tour groups get barely any free time. It's carefully planned. Being a traveller means little to no planning.

In that article an English novelist says it best...
"The traveler sees what he sees, the tourist sees what he has come to see."

I'll tell you a story. In Turkey travelling with a former girlfriend we wanted to see Pamukkale with the outdoor volcanic rock pools. Could have booked a tour, but we hired a jeep and drove.
The first new experience came when we had to fill up the tank. I had to go to the loo, came out and nothing was happening. Attendant would not acknowledge my girlfriends existence lol she was pissed. I told him to fill her up and we were off. Saw a lot of countryside on the way, stoed where we wanted.
And on the way back we got lost ended up in the mountains way off the beaten track driving through villages that were amazed to see us. It got dark we were late and it started to rain hard and we had no roof. Our petrol guage had been on empty for 20 mins when we finally sighted civilisation again.

    Travelling.
