dino61...some would say that going to the third world with good intentions is more important to the "Westerners" by going there "they have made a real difference to little puck puck and his family by leaving some of their clothes behind and the loose foreign currency that, well lets be honest, isn't worth exchanging back to $A", and a new topic for dinner convo.......sorry but that's the side I hear way too often, if you want to truly immerse yourself in local culture, don't do it from a base that's a nice hotel instead go and find the real culture at a real local level if you dare....
