    Yeah the soil in the whole area is a basaltic red clay, Dex.

    Even if there was a leak in the liner, I doubt there would be much leakage into the groundwater. The clay will just swell and form an impermeable barrier. Monitoring would detect a slow and they'd have plenty of time to fix it.
