The distance from Mount Isa to Tennant Creek is only 622 km. For a comparatively small outlay, there would be a enormous benefit if a rail link was established.

Taking ore and gas away from the ports inside the Great Barrier Reef would be a big plus.

It would make for a pretty popular passenger route as well.
