I seriously believe the world would be better with zinc-bromine flow batteries over lithium ion in talking about stationary batteries.
We need to think of using ready solutions that fit the requirement of use.
Use lithium for EVs and mobile phones and save the lithium reserves for this purpose otherwise it will become more costly as it becomes more difficult to mine. Creating billions of Lithium Ion cells for stationary does not make sense to me when you consider the resources and environmental issues with mining lithium. And when there are other better solutions for that fit.
For Stationary batteries use flow batteries. This to me makes complete sense. Especially the fact the flow batteries last 10-20 years without degradation and are more simply recyclable.
Common sense is not a feature of leadership so expecting this will take some time to work through as lithium starts to face production problems and cost with accessing lithium.
