The mouthguards worn by all players are supplied by Prevent Bio as it falls under the World Rugby banner. The Crusaders do (or at least did) have a partnership with HIQ but they can't use its mouthguards given the need for consistency (and exclusivity).
And Quenten Strange, a Crusader, was the first to go off, miffed, by a mouthguard induced HIA requirement.
I don't think this gives reason for HIQ to crow though. To me the most valuable lesson to come from it is to make sure they are honest with their customers and partners as to how well the tech works, and ensure these comms are fed to players and other stakeholders properly. Give yourself some breathing space for ongoing development and people will sympathise much more closely with teething issues. especially when I dont think anyone agrees that improving this area of player safety is not an imperitive the game (or all contact sport for that matter).
