Move Over Rachel Dolezal, White Guy Thinks He's Filipino

    Anything goes these days!

Remember Rachel Dolezal? The white woman who pretended to be black and actually became the head of her local NAACP? Well, there’s a new “transracial” in town: a white fellow named Adam, or “Ja Du” as he likes to be called now.
See, Adam thinks he’s Filipino and because we are letting anybody identify as anything these days, this is perfectly normal and acceptable.
“Whenever I’m around the music, around the food, I feel like I’m in my own skin,” Adam told WTSP. “I’d watch the history channel sometimes for hours you know whenever it came to that and you know nothing else intrigued me more but things about Filipino culture.”
And so instead of just enjoying the culture, Adam concluded he was truly a Filipino trapped in a white man’s body. And according to a licensed psychologist, Dr. Stacey Scheckner, there’s nothing wrong with this thinking:
“If someone feels that they feel at home with a certain religion, a certain race, a certain culture, I think that if that’s who they really feel inside life is about finding out who you are. The more knowledge you have of yourself, the happier you can be. And, as long as it’s not hurting yourself or anyone else, I don’t see a problem with that.
“If that’s who they are and they want to celebrate it and enjoy it, then you have to think what harm is it doing? All they want to do is throw themselves into that culture and celebrate it.
“I think before we get offended, we need to take a step back and think about what is the harm.”
Interestingly enough, WTSP did a Google search for ethnic scholarships and you’ll never guess which ethnicity came in second: Filipino, of course! But Adam assures that his intentions are honorable:
“I believe people will [take advantage] just like other people have taken advantage of their identity to get their way, but the difference between me and them… is that I don’t want that. I think that we all have the freedoms to pursue happiness in our own ways.”
But Adam isn’t leaving it at just transracialism. Oh, no. Adam not only “feels” Filipino, he also feels “transsexual and is considering changing his gender as well,” WTSP notes.
This one is going to be tough for progressives. They will champion his gender reassignment all day long, but on the other hand, Adam is guilty of cultural appropriation. What’s a good leftist to do?
