What's facing the early education sector?

As I have posted previously, the introduction of additional ECT's in all centre's with 60+ places, in all states apart from NSW. This will possibly mean that some educators may be replaced, by higher qualified staff, hopefully the decisions made will reflect managements commitment to maintain and improve quality.

Reports today that China's Greentown have obtained a 56% share in Montessori. This will allow Montessori to go ahead with plans for expansion. Charter Hall Education Trust have raised funds to purchase 13 early learning centre's and Think have followed with their successful capital raising, to expand their portfolio.

The Catholic Church in Queensland have announced that they would like to build a preschool on all catholic school grounds. Both the NSW and Victorian government have indicated their intention to hopefully do the same, albeit on a much smaller scale.

The introduction of a national curriculum across G8 centre's an expensive marketing ploy. The Framework is already there, improve further on that.

The media have also been discussing a large bonus being voted on at an upcoming G8 AGM.

Plenty for long term holders to investigate in the early childhood sector.
