Hey Karadoc174, I’m briefly out of retirement just for you. The Go Organics composting operation in Gingin is a great site and well positioned to avoid the neighbours complaining about the biodegradation that happens on-site. The M8 landfill is in a horrible position. I’ll explain, Go Organics take the material from the 3rd bin council collections, that material makes up 40% ish of the total weight of the domestic collection. The green waste and food waste is stored at council transfer stations ready for collection. Go Organics have a dual revenue stream, they collect the FOGO (food organics, green organics) from the councils under long term contracts for a charge, then take that material, sort it, compost it via windrow open air system, then sell it to landscape yards and in bags under the Brunnings (not Bunnings) label. Donovan, the South African MD of Go Organics owns the WA rights of Brunnings. The trucks are never empty either delivering or collecting Fogo material. They have just expanded their site to a 125,000 tonnes per annum capacity. The council waste now has the food organic green waste removed which makes the dry stuff left perfect for the incinerators. Go have long term contracts for both streams and the logistics to support it. Your mates at M8 have none of those. And you’re correct, they need a total change in management but that won’t change the fact that they don’t have any waste that needs to go there apart from the existing Brajkovich material. Right, I’m off back to sleep Karadoc174.
