The Guardian generally release 'news' that questions the value of CBM or Shale exploration, 'minimises' the 'current state of progress' and 'maximises' the fears, problems or possible problems relating to gas exploration and development.

By the time there are a handful of productive wells in the UK, there will be no looking back. Also, the ability of a few people to organise effective protests will diminish significantly once several wells are underway at the same time. It will get much easier from that point on.
