Mozambique Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosario on Friday received the chairman of the Chinese Association for the Promotion of South-South cooperation, Iyu Xinhua. in the capital Maputo.Iyu Xinhua is leading 30-member business which arrived in Mozambique to seek investment opportunities.
Chinese businessmen are keen on Mozambique’s hydrocarbon areas, infrastructure, agriculture, health, among others.
Addressing the media after meeting the Prime Minister, Xinhua said business environment in Mozambique is favorable and during the meeting, the priorities for cooperation were discussed, with emphasis on health and education.
“The main goal of our Association is to investigate what are the investment opportunities in Mozambique,” said Xinhua, adding that his association will later meet the local Confederation of Mozambique Business Association.
According World Bank’s Doing Business Survey, Mozambique has made steady progress improving the business environment and its ranking has risen to 127 in 2015 out of 189 countries from 142 in 2014.
The rise reflects efforts to improve the ease of starting a business, dealing with construction permits and registering a property.
Do Rosario said the government will continue to implement the Business Environment Improvement Strategy, which is expected to end in 2017.
