Have not seen the book but the quote has been around for a long time in many books. In general I do not do Market timing. The Market is very cyclical. To recognizing severe over or under evaluation always ads to gains. I will agree for the untrained investor buying an hold is always a better idea. Also Rebalancing the amounts you have in sectors every 3 months has also been shown to outperform the market. You should hold your Lynas for next 5 years and we will see how we will do on an annualized basis with Lynas. If you read what I post about Lynas I have never said it is going to fall by itself. I have said because of its high PE and some other problems it will fall earlier and further when the markets have a correction. Here is a chart of DJIA I saw both the 2000 Drop and 2008 drops coming. Nothing special in this many others did as well and wrote about it. Many others wrote they were totally wrong. All you had to do is study and think to decide who to listen to. Now the Dow was hit realy bad in 2008 not so bad in 2000. The S&P 500 is tech heavy and it was hit in much more in 2000 and less in 2008 than Dow This is why adjusting what you have in each sector at fix times will automatically give better returns.
My number one read is the economist. Not only do they predict changes in attitudes and economies. They give underlying ideas about why. I cannot read this online. I need the hard copy and always read it with a pen and markers near buy. I do read many things on line like WSJ. NY times. Forbes. I just cannot make it work for The Economist
