Macquarie halts offshore wind company sale due to lack of interest, sources say

April 08, 2025 at 06:00 am EDT LONDON,

(Reuters) - Australia's Macquarie has cancelled the sale of one of the world's largest offshore wind power developers, due to lack of interest, two people with knowledge of the process said, amid opposition against the renewable energy source by the Trump administration.

EPS estimates for 2026 look entirely wrong to me. Renewables is clearly not a growth business and given the decline in financial markets this quarter, asset management revenue will be down a lot. The firm doesn't have a significant trading presence anymore, particularly in the US excluding energy trading which they still have.

It seems clear that they have assets which will need to be written down in value. Earnings have been going down down for the last 2 years, not up as some people on here have suggested. That's a fact , not an opinion

$7 to $8 seems reasonable to me. Even if the market will pay 15x P/E for that, the share price is still capable of trading $100 - $120.

I think there is a profit warning coming. If there isn't, then I think guidance at their result in May will be downgraded significantly or not given at all.
