For those of you who are gnashing your teeth about tariffs it may be of interest to note that Aust. and the US are charged a 700% tariff for rice sold in Japan. The global price for rice is about US30c/Kg. Japanese farmers are paid (by the Govt.) about US$4/kg for the rice they sell.
Some will say "but the US doesn't grow rice!". Well they do as does Aust. They certainly don't sell much to Japan tho'.
