The company has been battling falling earnings for 2 to 3 years and there as yet have been no significant write-downs of what appear to be very illiquid and unsaleable assets.
Abandoning traditional capital markets businesses and having no particular trading capabilities anymore (excluding commodities and energy) will significantly impair any rebound in earnings imo
