the opposition tries to hold the government to account
it is great system I reckon
But it only seems to work if the government has a majority.
It makes decision and opposition tries to find fault.

But you know something with this hung parliament all this talk about a new system might be appropriate.
It reminds me a bit of world boxing champion james tony taking on Mixed martial arts legend, randy coutour
It was all over in five minutes
coutour a wrestler just took tony down, applied a choke and he won. Tony a phenomenal boxer did not even throw a punch.
    so what is the point?
Well, tony was a great boxer. coutour a great wrestler.
they are only good at what they do in certain environments.
If coutour had fought tony using boxing rules, tony would have won.
    It's all about rules.
Point is this. labor is trying to apply mma rules when only boxing rules apply.
the westminister system is based on opposition. Consensus will never work in a system set up to encourage opposition. Oakeshott thinks he can but I reckon he's dreaming.
You would need to change the whole system of rules I reckon. the westminster system is not set up to cope with consensus politics.
