It is increasingly clear already that Mr Abbott will be critical in this election campaign.
He has the right to defend his legacy.
The only one attacking his legacy is Mr Shorten.
Mr Turnbull is adding to his legacy.
The TURC is the centre piece of the DD.
So Mr Abbott should join the front bench and take up Indigenous affairs or otherwise leave parliament.
Mr Abbott in any other capacity is the ALP's big election weapon.
