Could not agree more! Whilst Aitken is boorish & colloquial in his tone, he has every right to question this recent appointment as do us shareholders. One would expect a seasoned finance professional with retail banking experience to assume such a critical position, yet an IB lawyer with little accounting/financial experience now runs the purse strings of the bank.
Furthermore what is even more disappointing is the response from ANZ corporate affairs who accuse Aitken of 'unconscious bias' (buzz word these days for sexism). Not only is that ground for defamation (which am sure Aitken will pursue), it shows the ridiculous mindset of ANZ management at present. Clearly profitability & shareholder value is the least of their concerns. Frankly as a customer & shareholder am getting sick of this BS and will look at taking my business elsewhere and selling my holdings!
