    After the passing of my father I have made significant annual donations to the cancer council. I have never made a song or dance or required any special parliamentary party.

    furthermore just like was mentioned in the AFR cancer research and donations are very fragmented. Probably because every operator wants a charity and foundation in someones honour which leads to significant admin costs.

    With regards to giving away net worth. Mr Forrest will easily make up the $200m or $400m he has foregone with a rising FMG price and dividend. Lets not forget just one dividend payment along from FMG yielded him around $200m. Even after giving away 10% of his net worth he is still exceptionally wealthy and don't think he will scrounge because of it, but for the ordinary person to give away 10%, they will have to make up for it elsewhere.
