You're right they used majority of their acid in their leaching tanks, but also used a fair amount in their refineries. They have an acid plant up there but it was only run when required as it was so expensive to produce from burning sulphur. Given that they wouldn't need to run or maintain an acid plant or pay on market for their acid it could work. I haven't worked up in Olympic Dam in years so things may have changed.
Anyway I'm just throwing out ideas on a boring Friday. No news and plenty of possible exciting news is making us all a little stir crazy.
