Hi dis, Sir Robert really kicked off social welfare in a number of areas and I have posted on that previously. John Howard was also huge particularly in middle class welfare.
IMO the definition you attribute to Menzies equally applies now. I mean who would believe that either side of politics would not be trying to make progress or to improve upon the current situation. Ideologues of course tend to engage in a war against those of differing political persuasion and think it’s only they are on the right track. Progressive is about being relevant to the ever changing needs of society whether economic or social in nature.
Any political Party that considers thats not the way to go would fail.
