This graphic has been posted hundreds of times on HC over the years, but it's well worth saving a copy and referring back to it when running the ruler over an explorer you're thinking of buying into.
Bear in mind that the cycle can get stuck in the middle and repeat from the beginning multiple times before an explorer finally manages to find the big one, thus moving from explorer to producer.
As for where in the cycle a specific explorer happens to be (e.g. VXR), you'll need to work that out by DYOR.
