It is widely speculated that Mr Rudd intends to move onto the UN.
If this is his ambition he has a conflict of interest.
He has been elected to work solely, zealously in the interest of Australia. His status in his next job in the UN will be determined by whether he has been a good 'internationalist'. The two are not compatible.
This is no different to having a Resources Minister who's carrer ambition is to move into Exxon.
No employer would keep an employee who it was known intended to go to work for those against who he is currently negotiating.
Mr Rudd should catagorically undertake not to seek or accept a role with the UN.
