perhaps if Bullock was talking directly to a family under the pump she might have chosen more simple language.
instead she was addressing the nation, via journalists, at an unusual venue..... with some cafe for families in her mind as she was at the Anika Foundation, a charity established by the family of a young woman studying for her HSC who took her own life in 2004.
the audience she addressed was a fund-raiser for the charity. sophisticate investor types.
her language had to fit the context and audience: the nation first and foremost, including economists (in the audience), business people, govt authority representatives and journalists. her language was therefore appropriate.
so yeh alonso, I think you've taken her context to the specific family unnecessarily. so yes you're comment may be "hyper-critical".
