My super fund (in which I hold my MSB through their SelfInvest option) uses State Street as a custodian and JP Morgan to manage the securities lending program, so in effect I guess I'm tangentially complicit and my MSB shares are probably being lent out to shorts as we speak .
If you really want to make a change the best thing you can do is lobby your superannuation fund to decline to lend their shares - that said the custodians use the income they make from lending to offset the costs of administering the fund assets as a sort of soft-dollaring situation so most funds would be reluctant to decline to participate as it's leverage to negotiate a lower admin fee from the custodians.
