I unfortunately fell ill there in May and thought I may be having a heart problem.
Turns out it was a combination of altitude plus COVID.
The doctor was unable to join the dots and instead did a bunch of tests and ultimately said I had indigestion on account of my body not handling the change from Australian to American food.
But I digress.
The point is: I was in emergency for two hours while they poked and prodded me and the bill for their services was......$16,000!
To top that, the first person who saw me before the doctor was the hospital accountant to get my life signed over to them.
Anyway, at getting the bill informed them that my insurer may not take well a $16,000 bill for indigestion, and if they wanted to be certain of covering costs, they may wish to reconsider the number.
Reduced it next day to $1,000!
Goes to show how much slop there is and how insurers and the medicos are colluding to all get rich together!
Sad but true, a lot of people die at home fearing they won't be able to cover the bill and don't want to burden their loved ones with it should they be incapacitated.
