I never bother setting a stop loss for a spec share, especially biotech. This is because their sp is so very announcement driven. A bad ann plunges the sp so precipitously that the loss control you were trying to execute is rendered useless. Painful examples for me are SPL and ACL. Both reported disappointing ph 3 results after huge build up in discussion forums (exactly like MSB now). ACL went from about +50c to13c before you could reach for your mouse, all on an ASX announcement. Shattering.
Beware, spec investors have no control. Announcements produce millionaires or paupers instantly, without fear or favour. We put our money on a square and the croupier does the rest. You can't take your money off once the spin starts.
