The USA recorded recently 1.7 Million annual cases of Sepsis, with 250,000 patient deaths. Sepsis is a major cause of ARDS, and MSC cells have been highlighted several times as one of the few potential treatments that may work at curing both Sepsis and ARDS. One of the Mesblast Patent granted companies Tigenix is currently trialing MSC for the treatment of sepsis although results are still a year off. What does this mean for Covi-19?
Some of the stats are showing that 1 in 6 experience difficulty breathing, and of those that go into hospital, 20% are ventilated in a recent study of 5000 hospitalized patients.
If we add the two statistics together, that gives 3.3% of the recorded known cases - will be placed onto ventilators statistically speaking.

USA are sitting at 20,000 cases diagnosed per day - of which statistically 660 will require ventilation.
It's unknown how long this will go on for and how big it is, or if it will go up or down, but is we half that rate. 330 per day it is still a shockingly high number - 9,000 per month, or about the same size as USA Severe sepsis
