What I found surprising about the general clinical success rate in the article is that getting product through phase 2 is the most difficult phase; getting through phase 3 is usually the most costly.
And, to clarify the graph, the NDA/BLA simply means submission, while the approval means the FDA approval of BLA.
I was amazed by the significance of filing BLA, since filing of BLA means 85.3% of approval in general from FDA for all types of drugs and 88% for biologic products. I guess when they say they are going to file for BLA, it's big. If its submission is accepted, it's actually quite close to FDA approval.
