Having read Madam's dispassionate analyses over the past several years, I would venture to suggest that he/she would say:

"I've no idea why the share price is spiking now. I cannot predict, and have little interest, in day to day share price fluctuations".

My personal view is that, when viewed against the performnance of the SP over the last 12 months, let alone the past 5 years or so, I'd suggest that the "spike" is nothing to get too excited by.

Moreover, I suspect that Madamswer is not hiding under a rock, but is rather more likely to be on a boat, or golf course, or simply sitting in the summer sun, enjoying a perfectly chilled white. All courtesy of a few decades of calm, unemotional, analysis-based investing, in companies that have reached "self-sustaining commercialisation" and do not rely upon the "kindness of strangers".
