The blaster announced that they had passed the 50 percent mark on October 13th . At the time I was hearing rumors that the recruitment rate had increased significantly to something like 3 people per day . On that basis I believe the 60 percent mark could easily have been reached by the end of October (for one thing they announced on a Tuesday aussie time which suggests the number could have been days before given the time lags involved ). So that would mean the data monitoring committee might have had the data for over 2 weeks which seems an inordinate amount if time to examine 45 additional cases . As a number have argued the longer this goes on with no announcement the greater the probability of a positive announcement given all the consultations that need to take place . My suspicion is that if you were a poker player your banker is covid 19 ards . I think the probability of a positive result in clbp is higher than heart so would expect that after ( I simply think that they had the opportunity to enroll the right patients from the get go while heart changed course half way through the trial ). Heart is probably the riskiest of the three ( and I suspect the trial that the shorts are relying on ) so best to have that released last by which time , hopefully , the shorts are running for the hills. Just a thought but hopefully it is a cunning plan !
