Your comments about shortcomings of steroid injections are wrong because many patients get excellent results and long lasting, if not permanent, benefit.

Some individuals experience the deficient result you describe but that will apply to MSC injections also, just as it does to 100% of all medical interventions for all conditions.

I have no argument with the opinion that steroid injections for CLBP often aren't helpful. If they were almost always beneficial we wouldn't need MSCs. I just don't want readers here to disregard their specialist's advice if steroid injections are discussed. They often work, they are cheap, they are easily accessible, side effects are low.

If I had another lumbar disc problem I certainly would consider a first shot by steroid before going to MSCs, even MSB's cells. By the way, I'll bet that insurer approval leans that way too, considering the relative large cost difference. In fact, without troubling myself to go back over MSB's commentary I'd be surprised if they expect their MSCs to be first line therapy for every case of discogenic LBP. Like the aGvHD indication, it's best reserved for "steroid resistant".
