In that scenario some might sell half to move into free carry plus a bit of extra cash for the trouble. No one ever lost money taking a profit as they say.
Great strategy if the share price plateaus or retreats, not flash if the company keeps posting winners because it means you're handing over some of those long term gains to the instos. (see CSL, A2M etc). How many bags have retail given up on those stocks? But for every CSL there are more than 20 ordinary companies and 20 complete duds.
