Best chances are interim analysis readout around mid-July and if the result is good, at that stage 200+ should have been enrolled, so they’ll probably change the trial design and run the last 100 without placebo arm (so reduction of approx 50 to 250 Total patients). note that it was originally designed as a 250 patient trial. i like how it was designed, however the increase to 300 was probably envisaging the likelihood that the last 1/3 would loose placebo arm.
Some math: 5 weeks to enroll first 90-100 patients. This is consensus opinion in this forum. Add 30-days for primary endpoint: July 10. Add 7-days for analysis and independent data monitoring committee meeting: July 17. At this stage another 100 should have been enrolled and dosed = 200 total. So the decision is only what to do with last 100 patients to be enrolled. DMC may say proceed with last 100 without placebo arm = only dosing 50 which is active portion.
