Of course investing isn't gambling, the point was to differentiate sensible investing, where you take an educated risk, from pure gambling.
All those things you mentioned - researching, analysing, modelling, fact checking, due diligence - many people don't do those things. They just see a share price going up and jump on board and start cheering like it's the races.
