I would absolutely concur that having multiple holdings is pretty much a full time job. As i've said here in the past I do look at our investments each and every day. You might not believe the sheer amount of paperwork and decisions that are required over the year. Recording all the buys and sells gains losses and all the dividends received against bank statements, all the interest received, expenses etc etc. I've set up a very good working home office and it's one of those that I can put my hand on anything from the day dot until the present in a very short time frame. It's even colour coded ha ha
I'm very very organised and that's so necessary when dealing with larger portfolios. As i've also said we do have brokers who keep an eye on some of our longer term holdings ...they do their part I do mine and it works well. As i've also mentioned my brother is a CPA and a senior partner in his accounting firm so again great support.
All this whilst also being my elderly folks full time carer ....but our investments interest me and I take an active interest in them. Whilst i've been here on the MSB board it's been a great experience talking with some others who are of that kind of mind that is people who take an active interest in their investments.
My dad has been a great teacher not just his successes but also his fails ...in terms of 'character' I think he's instilled that in me when it comes to the stock market. I'm very fortunate that he's still here and I can still talk with him about decisions. However if he wasn't i'd still be thinking what would my dad be thinking with this one
I think the reason I've been posting here a lot is finding people to share thoughts with but also because there is a vibe around MSB at this time so it's nice to kind of be along for the ride with all the other shareholders of this company. I do read a lot i'm pretty much a speed reader ...so I do also read others thoughts, at times on here there's so many posts that it's impossible but I do try to read different thoughts. I now only have one poster on ignore out of everyone here as I've found I have zero interest in their posts or thoughts.
