Agree ImaScientist, it is impossible to extrapolate too much. Regardless, it is interesting (distressing) that the total ICU mortality rate is 25.7% v 18.2% discharged i.e. you are 41% more likely to die than be released from ICU based on this data set.
If, & it is a pure hypothetical, the higher mortality rate is applied to those still in ICU, the overall mortality rate is ~60%. This could vary greatly, but I agree entirely that the listed mortality rate of 25.7% is far too optimistic. It is simply the current status, not the final outcome.
