the problem is dishonesty and a lack of integrity. Im all for shorters if that's their genuine investment view... happy for bots to trade if they are trading on an underlying investment decision (e.g. pairs trading, quant strategies etc.), but the bots hitting the bid to tilt the stock a certain way that isn't reflective of a genuine investment decision... that's a problem imo.
And as mentioned by someone here previously, the problem with the small share trading manipulation is that it hampers fair price discover, allows for easier hostile takeovers... more of a recipe for disaster for destroying companies values and potential.
