With regards to being either stingy or short of cash...to invest...
My understanding is that the majority of retail shareholders in Australia are retired...and those folks like blue chip shares with dividends (income) like banks...and in 2020 the dividends of the banks have been cut back quite severely due to covid. Off the top of my head, the cut backs are from around the usual 83c per share to around 30c per share. That's a big cut back for someone who lives off their dividends. Most of my income comes from bank shares and fortunately for me, it has not affected my lifestyle but I imagine that for a lot of people it is a big deal. Imagine if you were retired with a tight budget and your income was cut by two thirds...would you be looking for investments?

And btw, before you guys jump down my throat about being a wuss investing in banks, I hold shares in 5 banks and I have good reasons for choosing banks, the main ones being that I worked in banking so I understand banks....but the biggest reason being that bankers are greedy, all they do all day is think about money. I've had these shares since the 1990s - they have given me good income without ever having to look at them.

Yes, I could invest more in Mesoblast as it presently represents close to 6% of my investments but I think that is enough. So yeah, you can call me stingy, that's okay with me.
